which accounting software would be best to learn first?
Im an accounting student looking to get prepared before i exit school and i was wondering which accounting software should i learn first. I know a lot of accountants use peachtree but a lot of small business use quickbooks. I guessing that in the near future ill be dealing with more clients using quick book then peachtree. I would like to learn them both before i graduate but i don’t think ill have enough time to.
I recommend that you don’t waste your time trying to learning either one. Quickbooks is mainly used by sole proprietors who don’t employ an accountant. Peachtree is used by almost no one.
Big companies with accounting departments use networked accounting programs. Small accounting offices use a wide range of different programs.
I work in a CPA office and I actually use Creative Solutions Write-up Solution II. This is actually a DOS program not a windows program. This is the fastest program for doing accounting and payroll that I’ve ever found and it is simple to use.
In small accounting businesses it is the income tax return preparation that actually puts money in the bank. Accounting just gives you something to do during the summer.
